The Purpose.
There are tensions with mythology, connections, objects, and reflections formed in light…
In those tensions I find a peaceful resistance to the anger, reactiveness, and violence of our divided world. The quiet ritual of creating images of still life, and mythology are my acts of resistance to the increasing chaos that we see everyday.
Still life and portraits are about people, cultures, world mythology, and cycles of life, where division becomes connection. Barriers between objects, light, and space create connections in their distinctiveness. We are unique yet connected, full, and reflected in our existence.
Uroboros is an ancient mythological symbol showing that precise moment when end becomes beginning; therefore, division becomes connection, or dark becomes light. My art is the search for that dance, for the uroboros.
T.S. Eliot’s “dance” is where I want my art to go:
“…at the still point of the turning world. Neither flesh nor fleshless; neither from nor towards; at the still point, there the dance is…”
